OK, so we didn't see lions, tigers OR bears at Fossil Rim....but we saw plenty of very cool creatures VERY VERY close up. Here's a deer:
And here is some sort of ram/goat:
And then he came closer and stuck his face in the car, looking for food!
The scenery was beautiful there - Glen Rose is located a little over an hour southwest of Arlington where I live. It's amazing that it's only an hour and a half from all of the lights and glitz of the big city!
There were about a million of these animals - their horns were SO LONG! We had to be careful when we drove if they were close to the car because if they turned their head, your car would get scraped up by their beastly horns!
I thought this guy was pretty cute....
It was a beautiful day - sunny, breezy and cool! It really worked out great because we took Chris' pickup truck that was pretty high up - perfect height for animals to stick their head in! And he has an extended cab so TJ had the whole back seat to roam around and be able to run from one side to the other (we were only going about 8 mph, so seat belts weren't required. He also got to stand on the middle console and stick his little head out the sunroof and look at the animals.
And here is some sort of reindeer sleeping.....
This guy wanted to eat the side mirrors!
Pretty deer...
At the beginning, when you buy your entrance tickets, you can buy a big bag of feed so that you can give the animals 'treats' as you pass through. This was the car in front of us....
Here's an ostrich who stuck his head in the car!
And here are Chris and TJ at the end - playing on the dinosaurs!
