Southern Dining

This post is dedicated to the cool restaurants that Lindsay and I visited during our trip to Charleston, SC. This first one is by far my favorite - "Elegantly Southern"!

Here's the hostess stand - so simple, yet so elegant.

This is Lindsay at our table.....

It was so cute and decorated so southern - a converted old home into a restaurant with fresh flowers on the tables.

It was getting pretty late (9-10pm) when we ate, so it was all empty for my picture as we left. And the salad was FANTASTIC.

This restaurant was in the same downtown area and we ate here for lunch - very airy, open and pretty.

These beautiful flowers were on the bar - I just love the little touches that make it so quaint.

Apparently Broad Street is the dividing line in Charleston between the 'haves' and the 'have nots'. So a lot of things were referred to as "north of Broad" or "south of Broad." I'm actually starting to read a book that was set in Charleston that is called "South of Broad" - I'm excited!

One of the nights, Lindsay and I drove out to Folly Beach to check things out - and to see the lighthouse that is still out in the water.

We went to a typical beach bar and grill place. Nothing crazy, but we were right on the main drag and we saw several really drunk people stumbling by on the street. I thought this view from our table was pretty.

Here's Lindsay and our fruity drinky-treats!

We also hit up an Italian place while in Charleston - here's the sign.

I didn't get any pictures of the inside, but I thought this window display outside was cool - a ton of wine corks!

And this last restaurant was right by our hotel - across the street from the markets in downtown. I can't remember what it was called, but they had great wraps. I loved the building because I'm pretty sure it used to be a church!

It was really open and spacious, with a huge stained glass window. So pretty.

These stained glass 'shutters' were above our table and led into the winery next door that was connected to the restaurant. Beautiful!

I loved that they left the windows from the church days in the restaurant.

Is it sacrilege to have a huge long bar in a former church??

The woodwork and church windows were absolutely amazing. I couldn't stop looking at them!

And I really liked the pointed doorways as well - VERY well decorated and restored!
