Last weekend I went to one of my favorite places in Dallas-Fort Worth: The Stockyards! All of my visitors know what this area is like since I take everyone there. It just never gets old to me and I usually find or learn something new every time I go.....this time was no different.
It was definitely the most crowded I have ever seen - because of the SuperBowl coming in a week and also the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo going on....oh, and the fact that it was about 70 degrees and absolutely gorgeous out.
It's such a crossroads between cowboys and bikers - so bizarre to me! And there were LOTS of both the night we were there!
I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to find the owner of this bike and ask for a ride! It's such a beautiful red and oh so shiny!
While we were there, we took a walking historic tour of the Stockyards which was super interesting. We hit a lot of the spots that I was familiar with, but it was cool to hear all of the history associated with each area. Here's the Cowtown Coliseum - built in 1908 and holds the world's first indoor rodeo (still operating today). Teddy Roosevelt did a speech in this building and while he was speaking, there was a huge fire that broke out across the street in the barns. Teddy himself helped the firefighters put the fire out!
As part of the walking tour, we got to go in the building that houses the animal auctions.
That day, they were auctioning off horses and we got to hear and see the action! Here are the auctioneers:

It felt like I was in a movie like "Pure Country" or something!
We had dinner at Riscky's Steakhouse right on Exchange Ave. at the heart of all the action in the Stockyards....
The Stockyards at night is just so beautiful! I love the atmosphere, the people, the horses, etc.
There were a lot of people out that night, but not too many where it was annoying. They even had little bands playing along Exchange Ave.
I found this hotel up the street from the main action - I love it! Hotel Texas - I need to stay there!

Are you chronicling all your pictures in an album or at least a hard drive? You have so many and they are so wonderful!!
