Angel Among Us/Tribute To Dad

Wow - I can't believe it's been 6 years today that my Dad died. That was such a terrible day, so I'm choosing to remember his life today, rather than remembering that horrible day.

Here are some pics of my Dad over the years:

This one is my favorite - just me and Dad.

Dad took Kristi and I trick-or-treating every year. For some reason, I remember that black hat he always wore so vividly.
Here he is where he loved it the most - 'at the wheel' of his boat. I think that's my sister, Kristi, waterskiing.
And when he couldn't be at the lake, he would monkey around in the boat....in our driveway!

At some point, he added the pontoon to his cache of watercraft...

Here he is, obviously proud of what he caught that day.

Here's an old-school picture of my parents - circa 1991 or so.

Note to self - don't mess with the guy who has a blow torch belt contraption!

Here's one of Mom and Dad as they began their trek down to south Texas for the winter with the RV.

I miss you Dad!

Hey there LJ,
What a great post about your dad, love the pictures that you posted about him. It is a great way to look back at some of the many great times you were able to spend with him. Treasure those always, and look back at them with a happy heart knowing that he loved you always! I know just taking some time to think about a funny moment or something special you remember him for will put a smile on your face. I know that helps me when I am missing my dad! Love you hon! I can't believe that it has been 6 years already. Now that you are a homeowner, I think it is only fair that you find some possession (maybe a folding chair), and add the "Larsen" name in blaze orange for posterity. Your dad would love it :).

LTL - That is an AWESOME idea - he would be so proud to see that blaze orange stenciled LARSEN name!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Allison - Thanks for writing that - it means a lot. I just hate to think that this much time has passed. I fear that I will forget him and that wouldn't be doing him justice. I have to keep remembering the fun times. :)

Lauri,
Great pictures of your dad. What a great way to remember him - pictures of him doing the things that he loved and being with the people that he loved. It doesn't seem that it should be 6 years already. Your dad would be proud of the person that you have become. Keep living your life to the fullest.
