Random Purchases

Today's post is kind of random, but I bought two cute things that I just had to share with the blog-o-sphere. The first is a new stainless steel water bottle. Here it is:

I found it at Kirkland's on clearance (it was the very last one and it just HAPPENED to be an "L" bottle), so I just HAD to get it! My Mom bought me a cool red stainless steel water bottle for my birthday last year because she said that I shouldn't be drinking out of plastic bottles because it's dangerous.

OK, that's fine - and I love the red color - but my only complaint is that the water tastes a little metal-y. Oh, and I have a pet peeve with these metal bottles: the lip of them where you put your mouth on the bottle to drink is EXPOSED to the air even when the cap is screwed on. So that means that when the bottle is in my laptop bag, in the car, when I'm touching it with my hands - all of those germs are touching exactly where my mouth touches when I drink! I haven't found a metal one that has solved that problem, but now I have two of them that are like that....

OK, the other purchase is kind of monumental for Maggie. When she was a puppy, I bought her a puppy bed to sleep on in her crate. But since she was a very naughty puppy, she chewed it up, pulled the stuffing out, and dragged the bed all over the house. I eventually threw it away. This happened about 2-3 more times, and eventually I just stopped buying puppy beds and she was forced to do without if she couldn't handle leaving them alone in there!

Fast forward 5 1/2 years: I saw a really cute puppy bed at Walmart a couple weeks ago and thought to myself that MAYBE, just MAYBE she could handle it, now that she is 6 years old. Part of me said NO, she will never outgrow her playfulness and her need to 'de-stuff' things (she still de-stuffs all of her stuffed toys - never got sick of doing it!). But it was so cute that I just bought it and was curious to see what she would do....................

Well, lo and behold, Maggie has matured! She hasn't messed with the bed since I bought it a couple weeks ago! She loves it and sleeps in it when I'm not home (she's confined to the kitchen/laundry room/outside when she's home alone) - I know this because on the first few days I gave it to her, I felt the bed when I got home and it was warm - she was laying on it right before I arrived home!

And now, she even lays down in her bed before I leave for the day! I'm in shock - she is getting used to her cozy little bed and is treating it very well! YAY!

And one more random pic for the week.......When I got home from work the other day, I found a card and beautiful flowers from Laura (my fabulous new Texas friend that just moved here from Minneapolis and was staying with me for a week). She left a 'thank you' card and gorgeous flowers when she left to go move into her apartment. What a sweetheart! I can't wait to explore and hang out together once she's settled. What's cool is that her apartment is right by my work, so we can easily get together and catch up on life!

Love the water bottle! Pet Beds are the best (Mary uses her's all of the time when I leave)! And Laura rocks! Glad you two are getting along so well.

Fun! Flowers from a friend are the best.

PS I LOVE when my water tastes metal-y. It reminds me of the lake.

My metal water bottle came with a screw top to drink out of the bottle as normal, but I also bought a sport cap and the sport cap has a cover that goes over it, so nothing can touch where my mouth goes! Love my sport cap! Not only is it easier to drink out of, but the drinking area remains germ free :-)
