Several times this NFL season, I have had the pleasure of watching the Vikings game with a fellow fan - my friend Laura. It's so much fun to hang out with someone who lived in your hometown for 7 years and knows the places you used to go and the freeways you used to drive on (and we even worked for the same company, but not at the same time - we were introduced by a mutual friend who has worked at that company throughout both of our 'tenures' there).

Laura has obviously moved down here - earlier this year - and our love of watching the Vikings is something we can do together in the fall. So far, we watched several night games at my house, but last Sunday, we went to Shula's in Fort Worth and had a fantastic time cheering on our Vikings!

It just brings me so much joy to be around a fan of my team because I have lived away from Minnesota for 7 years now and so I'm always the lone Vikings fan - both when I lived in Ohio and now in Texas.

It's like a little piece of Minnesota moved down here with her and I get to enjoy it through football. I know it seems kind of petty and stupid, but it's comforting to have that connection to your past, your childhood, your heritage.

Thanks, Laura, for bringing a little piece of home!
